Max Healthcare has approved a significant capital expenditure to expand bed capacity at its hospitals. The investments include adding 209 beds at three different locations to meet healthcare demands. BLK-Max Hospital will also feature a new multi-level parking tower as part of the expansion. In addition, the network's operational bed capacity has increased substantially over the past year. This expansion reflects the growing need for quality healthcare services across India.

Max Healthcare has approved a capital expenditure of Rs 415 crore to add 209 beds across three existing hospitals as part of its expansion plans, the company said in an exchange filing on Friday.

The planned additions include 85 beds at Max Super Speciality Hospital (MSSH), Noida, 60 at MSSH Vaishali and 64 at BLK-Max Hospital. The company will also build a multi-level parking tower at BLK-Max.

Max Healthcare's network profit after tax stood at Rs 448 crore in the September quarter, up 10% on a like-to-like basis after adjusting for a one-time tax gain in the year-ago quarter. Gross revenue rose 20% year-on-year to Rs 3,219 crore, while operating EBITDA increased 18% to Rs 820 crore.

For the half year ended September 2026, network gross revenue grew 18% year-on-year to Rs 6,200 crore, mainly driven by an increase in occupied bed days (OBDs). Net profit rose 7% to Rs 805 crore on a like-to-like basis, compared with Rs 750 crore in the corresponding period last year. Cash from operations stood at Rs 897 crore, while net debt was Rs 2,369 crore.

The company has also started services at the Oncology Block at MSSH Dwarka. The facility includes a chemotherapy day-care unit, dialysis centre, LINAC, PET-CT and pathology laboratory. The main hospital is expected to reach a capacity of 318 beds in the third quarter of FY27.

In Bhubaneswar, Max has rebranded Kalinga Hospital, following its acquisition of a controlling stake in the facility, as Max Super Speciality Hospital. The hospital is undergoing upgrades, with six operation theatres, seven ICU beds and 37 ward beds targeted for completion by December 2026.

The network's operational bed capacity stood at 5,518 at the end of September, an increase of 758 beds over the past 12 months. Its total bed capacity for the half year stood at 6,184, up 20% year-on-year. Hospitals across the network recorded more than 31 lakh patient-service episodes during the September quarter, up 12% year-on-year.
