New Delhi, October 20: With the rising demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency and power-efficient optical connectivity driven by artificial intelligence (AI), Noida-based CloudPhotonix is targeting a revenue of ₹100 crore by financial year 2028 (FY28), a top official has said.
CloudPhotonix is an Indian photonics technology company, developing high-speed optical connectivity solutions for AI infrastructure, hyperscale data centres and telecom networks, with a portfolio spanning 1G–800G optical transceivers.
Started just two-and-a-half years ago, the company has invested around ₹40 crore till now, and is expected to close the current financial year with a revenue of ₹25 crore.
On Track
“We are on track this year to do about ₹25 crore in revenue. We are only two-and-a-half years old company and we have achieved operating break-even already. We want to be at least a ₹100 crore company by FY28... the growth has been quite phenomenal,” Tarun Sibal, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CloudPhotonix told businessline.
He said photonics are extremely critical tech because it has a chip and is a class one laser product, and there are a very few companies making this component in the country right now. Most of the photonics makers are either based in China or Malaysia or Taiwan or Vietnam, Sibal explained.
“Our customers include companies like Tejas Network, Reliance Jio, CtrlS, and Internet service providers...They don’t make the transceivers, they go to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like us to get the transceivers made to their specs. But, in India, we are the first to actually put in a physical unit to actually start manufacturing,” he noted.
Data Centre Demand
The Indian photonics market is expected to grow fourfold to around $10 billion by 2031 from $2.5 billion right now, driven by demand from data centres, cloud, Internet of things (IoTs) and other electronics devices requiring high data speed, India Photonics Association (IPA) has said recently.
According to IPA, the country can be self-reliant in photonics technology if all efforts from industry and government are made in time.
